Welcome to The Bothie
Bringing People Together
Safe, fun and inspiring support for our young people
The Bothie is the youth initiative of Action Kintore SCIO – the Royal Burgh of Kintore community charity.
The realisation of the vision for The Bothie, was a remarkable achievement. This was a substantial undertaking for Action Kintore, which is composed largely of volunteers from the community.
Thanks to support and encouragement from the community, hard-working volunteers and trustees, the young people themselves, our local councillors, Kintore and District Community Council and Aberdeenshire Council, our vision has become a reality.
The Bothie's Youth and Volunteer Co-ordinator, Rachel Lewis, works with a team of helpers and volunteers to organise sessions on specific topics and issues.
There is a focus on advice and support to foster personal development. A key aim is to build resilience to face life's challenges.
We have groups catering for:
Primary pupils P5-P7.
Young and Free to Speak (YAFTS) S1-S3
Stand up (4U) S3+
We want to make our support truly accessible. So, participating in the sessions at The Bothie is free-of-charge.
As a community charity, The Bothie’s services are funded entirely from donations, grants and fundraising.
You can help by

Realising the vision
The opening of The Bothie on Saturday, December 7, 2013 was the realisation of a five-year vision by Kintore community charity, Action Kintore SCIO.
Our dream was to provide a youth cafe as a place for young people in and around Kintore to gather.
With the support of many local organisations and businesses, construction work on the £140,000 project began in June 2013, using an environmentally friendly strawbale construction.
The realisation of the vision, was a remarkable achievement.
The Bothie project was a substantial undertaking for Action Kintore, which is composed largely of volunteers from the community.
Thanks to the support and encouragement of the people in and around Kintore, hard-working volunteers, the young people themselves, our local councillors, Kintore and District Community Council, Aberdeenshire Council and both corporate and individual donors the vision became a reality
Inspiring our young people
The youth sessions in The Bothie are all free of charge, and the building and support staff are funded entirely from grants and fundraising. So Action Kintore needs all the help it can get to support and maintain the services provided for these young people.
